Pedro Moutinho (1976) comes from perhaps the most famous Fado family today. Parents are artists of this art. His brother Carlos Manuel - Camane - is, next to Marizy, the biggest young star of Portuguese music, its symbol. The second brother - Helder, also the vocalist of fado, also has his own record company HM Musica and his club in the old quarter of the city, Mouraria.
Pedro began to sing as early as eleven in the most important Casas de Fado of Lisbon. In 2003, he released the first album Primeiro Fado, where traditional songs were intertwined with modern ones, he reached for orchestral arrangements, he sang songs of Brazilian bards, like Caetano Veloso or Jorge Mautner.
The biggest of the living legends of the fado - Carlos do Carmo invited him to take part in the project Novo Homem Na Cidade, where the most interesting young artists recreated the cult album of Carlos: Homem na Cidade from the 70s. Pedro Moutinho sang "Rosa da Noite" there. A moment later, he was already a guest in the cast of Saury: Fados. For the next album - Encontro received the Amalia Rodrigues Award for Best Album of Fado of the Year. A year later, the album "Um Copo De Sol" appeared, and soon afterwards the selection of the finest works, enriched with duets with Mayr Andrade and Tiago Bettencourt.
A new album from 2016 "About Fado Em Nos", one of the most beautiful albums of the genre in recent years, strengthened its position in the pantheon of champions. Pedro is touring around the world today.
In the book: "Lisbon, Music of My Streets" Marcin Kydryński writes about Pedro Moutinho, among others: "A voice with a wonderfully full band, even as a concerted steinway. A phrase with a long arc, individual words touched softly, with tenderness. The tone is slightly fluffy, like a cat's fur and longing, as if a little nasal, the greatest beauty. "
Every day Pedro regularly visits the most important stages of Alfama and Bairro Alto in Lisbon.
